Thomas Biagi is a professional racecar driver from Italy. Biagi was born in Bologna, in 7 May 1976.
In 2003, Thomas Biagi made a successful move to the FIA GT Championship, which he won in a BMS Scuderia Italia Ferrari 550 Maranello (co-driven with Matteo Bobbi)[1]. After a year in the Le Mans Endurance Series, he returned to the FIA GT with Vitaphone (& Enomatic) Racing, helping the squad take two Team titles before winning the Drivers title himself in 2007.
2005 FIA GT Championship
After two years of success driving a Ferrari, Thomas returned to the FIA GT Championship, signing an agreement with the strong Team Vitaphone to drive the most sphere car: the Maserati MC12.
Thomas finished 4th in overall standing after fighting for the lead of the Championship until the last race, with 6 podiums and two Victories; three 3rd place and one 2nd place. Very important satisfaction for the Italian driver that help Maserati to win the constructor Championship and Vitaphone to win the Team Championship.
2006
The year of the reconfirmation in Maserati. Two wins and 6 podiums repay the trust in Thomas by all the men of the big Modena's Team.
2007 - World Champion for the second time
Thomas follows the trend of excellence; being the pilot with the highest score in the last 6 races of the 2006 season. He is re-confirmed for the third year in the Vitaphone Team. Thomas deserved strong belief hitting the Pilot World Championship - his second in FIA GT career over 4 presences - and strongly contributing in making Maserati gain the Constructor Title. The "graduation" arrived with the last race, third in Zolder, after a nervous race where the Pilot from Bologna won over four competitors, with a strong behaviour. A demanding season, with two wins (Silverstone and Oschersleben), that saw Thomas heading the ranks since his second race. The results are also second time "Autosprint Casco D’Oro" and FIA Trophy, handed over during the traditional ceremony in Sporting Club of Monte-Carlo.
2008 – Another Great Challenge
Our flagship pilot has been called upon by Amato Ferrari, who asked Thomas to drive the Ferrari F430 for the AF Corse Team, as title-holder in FIA GT, thanks to 9 out of 10 wins. The strong belief in Thomas and in the team, Ferrari "recall" and the will to be again at a stake are all important reasons for choosing in GT2.
It's time for new challenges and above all new records for the pilot able to win two Championships with two different brands in recent past of global Gran Turismo, something that is not easy to achieve.
The switchover from GT1 to GT2 has been as demanding as the competitiveness level of both the pilots and the Championship itself. In the season that Thomas expected to be “in apprenticeship”, his team AF Corse won the World Champion Title for the team and he placed 4th in the ranking, just before prestigious names, thanks to the 4 podiums. Remarkable pole position during the SPA 24 Hours.
